Joe Cunningham, Quiltmaker:
LECTURES

LECTURE FEE: $650 plus expenses

I design my talks to be an hour long and wildly entertaining. No technical needs, since I bring quilts. I just need a couple of volunteers to help me hold them up.

HOW TO HAVE FUN

Following my own path in the quilt world has led me to unique, surprising places. In this lecture I will show and tell how and why I have made some of my new, original quilts. Fun, informative, designed to entertain as well as enlighten.

MEN AND THE ART OF QUILTMAKING

While quilting has been practiced almost exclusively by women, a few men have crept into the realm from time to time. This lecture tells why, and how, men have occasionally landed on the world of quilts. I will tell my own story and show my own quilts, while also providing some historical insight into this mystery. The lecture is illustrated with my own quilts and and pictures of men and their quilts in my book, “Men and the Art of Quiltmaking.”

MY LIFE IN QUILTS
People always want to know how and why I got started making quilts. In this talk I explain how it happened to me, and how it could happen to anybody! I'll bring my guitar and play some quilt-related songs, and I'll bring a whole bunch of my latest quilts to show and tell stories about.
